Each individual made to order piece will have the fabrication time listed clearly within the item description. Most everyday jewelry items that are made to order will be completed in a 2-3 week period. More complex items like engagement rings can take 4-6 weeks.

Please note- The timetable can be slightly extended during the holidays and other very busy times of year, like wedding season. Please inquire at info@altanamarie.com before purchase if you have a deadline.

In most cases we can accommodate rush orders and shipping. Additional fees will apply.

We accept returns and exchanges on ready made pieces if returned within 14 days of receipt of the item. The item must be in its original condition and packaging, and a 5% restocking fee will apply.

The length of the custom process can vary drastically depending on how clear the client is on their desired design, how much help & time they need to narrow down their choices, what materials are needed & their general availability, and how complex the design is.

In general, the fabrication stage generally takes about 4 to 8 weeks after the design is finalized.

Absolutely! We work with a large number of long distance clients. We have extensive experience with the virtual design process. We will make sure we send you as many media options as possible, where colors and sizes will show accurately to their real life appearance, and macro photos and videos of the stone in question until you are sure you love it. Many of our current 5 star reviews are from clients who were remote during the entire process. Ask us if you need to hear more about this!

At Altana Fine Jewelry, we actually specialize in heirloom redesigns. Many of our custom pieces throughout the years have been made in part or entirely out of heirloom jewelry from our clients.

If you are interested in the possibility of reusing something, please make an appointment to talk with us about your options. We will need to evaluate your piece and ensure that the stones are not chipped or compromised. The remaining metal can be either incorporated in the design or used as a credit towards your piece.

Please note, before we use any heirloom jewelry in a customer’s piece, we ask our clients to get the original items appraised and insured to protect their value during the design process. We are always as careful and thoughtful in the fabrication as possible, but there are small risks involved. Altana Fine Jewelry is not responsible for any damaged outside gemstones.

Official appraisals for valuation & insurance purposes must be done by a certified appraiser.

We partner with a fabulous local third party appraiser who offers assessments for $185 per piece. Please contact us to make an appointment for this service.

Not many fine jewelers offer repair services these days, but we continue to believe in the importance of this service. At Altana Fine Jewelry, we will repair both items we sell and items clients have purchased from outside sources.

Because jewelry repair can be tricky depending on the situation, it is impossible for us to offer a pricing guide for these services.

Yes! We work with an outstanding local hand engraver. We also offer machine & laser engraving.

If you're looking for care products, we have an extremely gentle cleaning kit with a soft brush and surfectant, as well as silver polishing cloths. Please ask us for details.

Past custom clients are always welcome to set up an appointment for a complimentary cleaning and prong check at our Oakland store. We recommend returning roughly every year for preventative maintenace.

Whenever possible, we always recommend visiting your local shop to get professionally sized. It truly makes a difference.

Absolutely. All Altana brand made to order and custom jewelry is covered by a limited lifetime guarantee in workmanship.

We make our pieces by hand in the United States with careful attention to detail. We are confident that you will find them to be solid, life-long pieces.

Our warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, abuse, or neglect. We highly recommend bringing in your valuable pieces roughly every year for a complimentary cleaning and prong check to ensure the safety of your stones. We are not responsible for stones lost or damaged due to bent or worn out prongs.

Remember, our warranty is null and void if the jewelry is modified, repaired, resized, or worked on in any way by an outside jeweler.
